Volvo Penta Powers SEETEL’s Mobile Charging Expansion in Asia

KELASTAMBANG: Taiwan-based SEETEL New Energy has selected Volvo Penta’s integration-ready battery systems to power its new mobile and industrial battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to meet growing demand for flexible, high-capacity energy solutions, the company announced in September.

Volvo Penta’s liquid-cooled, high-performance battery systems will be used in SEETEL New Energy’s mobile charging units and transportable containerized BESS platforms, offering configurations of 270kWh and 540kWh. These systems are designed for a wide range of applications including construction, mining, roadside EV support, emergency response, and remote healthcare deployment.

SEETEL New Energy’s energy storage platforms will be mounted on light trucks or developed as containerized units for industrial use, enabling high-capacity mobile fast-charging where stationary infrastructure is limited. The company aims to offer subscription-based urban mobile recharging services and industrial-grade energy solutions for demanding environments.

“By combining Volvo Penta’s integration-ready battery systems for energy storage with our energy management and deployment capabilities, we can deliver high-efficiency, mobile charging solutions that support the region’s growing demand for cleaner and flexible energy. This also accelerates our business diversification while helping our customers transition to sustainable operations competitively,” said Lin Sheng-Tse, Chairman and Founder of SEETEL New Energy.

The cooperation builds on an established relationship between SEETEL New Energy and JOU International, Volvo Penta’s dealer in Taiwan. JOU International has long supplied Volvo Penta-powered backup gensets to SEETEL facilities, facilitating the expansion into battery systems for energy storage through existing commercial ties and technical familiarity.

Volvo Penta’s battery systems are developed using the Volvo Group’s electromobility platform and are certified for mobile applications. They feature robust, high IP-class protection and are engineered to perform under harsh industrial conditions, aligning with SEETEL New Energy’s requirement for mobile, durable and scalable energy solutions.

“Our relationship with SEETEL New Energy demonstrates how Volvo Penta can play a trusted role in enabling customers to bring new energy solutions to the market,” said Oh Han Peng, Volvo Penta Industrial Sales Director. “By supplying proven, integration-ready battery systems, we help our customers focus on what they do best—developing and deploying applications that meet emerging needs in energy storage and electrification.”

The partnership positions Volvo Penta as a growing player in the Asia-Pacific energy market and reflects a broader strategic shift from internal combustion engines to electrified power systems across industrial sectors. For SEETEL New Energy, the adoption of Volvo Penta’s battery systems also supports its transition toward renewable energy and energy-as-a-service models, addressing a gap in grid-connected infrastructure while enhancing operational agility in remote and urban settings.

By leveraging battery energy storage technology with modular deployment potential, the initiative supports both energy transition and business model innovation in sectors such as mining, construction, transport, and emergency services—segments increasingly reliant on mobile, clean power systems.
