KELASTAMBANG: PT Vale Indonesia Tbk has been awarded the Manufacturing Category Award at the 2025 Supply Chain Excellence Awards (SCEA) Asia Pacific for its 0-hour Truck Rebuild Project, which integrates asset lifecycle management with sustainability by extending the operational lifespan of mining vehicles.
The project restores aging heavy-duty trucks to a “zero-hour” condition—ensuring the same level of performance and safety as new units without procuring replacements. Through reuse of existing materials and components, the initiative significantly reduces industrial waste, minimizes emissions from manufacturing, and strengthens circular economy practices within PT Vale’s mining operations.
“The 0-hour Truck Rebuild is more than a maintenance project—it is a sustainability solution,” said Sadewo, Head of Supply Chain Management at PT Vale Indonesia Tbk.
“By rebuilding rather than replacing, we extend the life of critical assets, reduce waste, and cut emissions, while ensuring our operations remain efficient and reliable. Combined with our work on renewable energy and green logistics, this award reflects our determination to push supply chain practices toward a future where responsibility and performance go hand in hand.”
The initiative is part of PT Vale’s broader sustainability framework. In parallel, the company has launched a renewable fuel collaboration with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, PT Trakindo Utama, and PT United Tractors. The project utilizes Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) to reduce the carbon intensity of PT Vale’s logistics and mining operations.
