KELASTAMBANG: PT Antareja Mahada Makmur (AMM), a subsidiary of PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA Group), has been officially appointed as the mining contractor for PT Kembar Emas Sultra’s (KES) nickel mining project in North Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi. The five-year contract, set to commence in Q4 2025, targets an annual ore barging production of 8 million tons.
The appointment strengthens AMM’s position in Indonesia’s growing nickel mining sector and reflects its strategic expansion beyond coal into critical minerals supporting the global energy transition.

The KES site holds more than 30 million tons of limonite and saprolite ore reserves. Under the contract, AMM will oversee the full scope of mining operations, including mine infrastructure development, waste removal, ore extraction, ETO stockpile management, and transport to shipping facilities.
In addition to operational execution, AMM emphasized its commitment to creating positive socio-economic impacts through local workforce empowerment and community development programs aligned with its sustainability agenda.
“We highly appreciate the establishment of this collaboration. A nickel project of this scale is a clear sign of trust in AMM’s capabilities, and we are committed to maintaining the confidence PT KES has placed in us,” said Muhammad Affan, Director of Business Development at PPA Group as quoting from PPA website.
“We hope the project starts on schedule and runs safely, smoothly, and successfully, meeting all production targets while continuously delivering added value to the surrounding environment. We also aim to uphold a consistent standard of responsible and sustainable mining in accordance with Good Mining Practice,” Affan added.
PPA Group’s commitment to mining standards has been nationally recognized, having received the top honor—Aditama (Gold)—from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources at the Good Mining Practice Awards for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, for its nickel operations.
This strategic partnership reinforces AMM’s growing role in Indonesia’s nickel value chain while supporting national objectives for downstream mineral development and environmentally responsible mining.
