ASEAN Mining Forum to Attract Global Investors to Laos

The ASEAN Minerals Investment Forum (AMVest 2025) will be held on October 2–3 in Vientiane, Laos, alongside the 10th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Minerals (AMMin) and the 25th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals (ASOMM), to strengthen regional collaboration and promote sustainable investment in critical and strategic minerals, according to the Indonesian Mining Association (IMA).

Southeast Asia, with its ten member states, holds substantial reserves of strategic and critical minerals essential for long-term energy transition goals. Recognising this, the ASEAN Federation of Mining Associations (AFMA), currently chaired by the Indonesian Mining Association (IMA), is organising AMVest 2025 as a key annual platform to attract sustainable mineral investment across the region.

“AMVest is designed by AFMA as an annual initiative to promote mining sector investment in ASEAN, and this year’s forum is supported by the ASEAN Secretariat,” said IMA Executive Director and AFMA Secretary General Hendra Sinadia in a statement issued on September 25.

The forum follows the ASEAN Mining Conference (AMC) held in November 2024 alongside the 24th ASOMM, hosted by Indonesia’s Directorate General of Minerals and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Building on that momentum, AMVest 2025 is expected to draw around 300 participants, including stakeholders from ASEAN member states, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN dialogue partners such as South Korea, Japan, China, India, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

According to Sinadia, the unique character of AMVest lies in its multi-stakeholder participation. Delegates will include government officials, private sector representatives, international organisations, civil society, industry and professional associations, investors, and academics from the mining sector.

Held under the theme “Invest ASEAN – Minerals for the Future,” the event will feature a plenary conference, seminars, focus group discussions (FGDs), business matching, networking sessions, and a gala dinner. On the evening of October 2, the forum will also host the 4th ASEAN Minerals Awards (AMA), where several Indonesian mining companies are set to participate in the award ceremony.

As the global demand for mineral resources continues to grow in support of decarbonisation and industrial supply chains, AMVest 2025 positions ASEAN as a strategic hub for investment in mineral development and downstream integration. The forum also reinforces ASEAN’s collective role in ensuring resource security while advancing regional economic growth and sustainability.
